Vegetable-Tanned Leather Desk Pad
$48.00 USD
Vegetable-tanned leather over a felt backing, cut square with a raw edge that burnishes instead of being sealed with paint. An optical mouse reads it cleanly, and it records use — darkening where your palm sits, until after a year that spot is the clearest sign anyone has worked here.
- Vegetable-tanned, so it darkens where your hand rests
- Felt backing holds it in place on a hard surface
- Raw burnished edge — nothing painted on to flake

Materials
3mm vegetable-tanned cowhide from a tannery still using bark liquors, with a wool felt backing. Vegetable tanning takes longer and costs more than chrome, and it's the only tannage that gains colour rather than merely wearing.
Care
Leave it alone for the first year. After that, work in a little neutral leather balm with a cloth if it feels dry. Don't let it sit in standing water — leather and a spilled glass don't mix.
